Patterns by Lori Biwer-Stewart
This is an original linocut by Lori Biwer-Stewart of Osage, Iowa.
The summer of 2020 was strange for everyone. I made a point to get out into nature as much as I could. I enjoyed walking the many trails we have in the area. As I walked I would often find stones and feathers that I use as reference and just to have them around for decoration.
This image is one color print. Printed on heavy white Stonehenge printmaking paper with oil based inks.
Linocut is a type of relief print. Relief printing is a technique where a piece of paper is “stamped” by the top surface of the plate painted in ink. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife and chisels.
