Born and raised in Dubuque Iowa, I grew up with a great appreciation for photography from my mother, an amateur photographer and my godfather, who was a professor of photography at Washburn College. With cameras always around, and receiving my first camera at 7, I gravitated to photography at an early age. In 2008, I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis placed in Photography. Returning to Dubuque after college I was drawn to the scenery and architecture that I grew up around.
Giving a new perspective to things that people see everyday, I enjoy taking photographs of the ordinary and creating an image that is striking to look at. Always curious, whether I’m home in Dubuque or traveling I focus on new line combinations and texture to make an engaging composition. I try to frame my work around seeing the world as one has never seen it before.
