This card features an image from an original screen print by Adam Turman of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Printed by Artists to Watch in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Turman is an artist, muralist, and screen printer. His bold style offers colorful takes on beloved Minnesota landmarks, the great outdoors, and riffs on our everyday. Adam’s murals can be found throughout the Midwest, and his screen prints in private collections worldwide. He works with major brands, independent businesses, and private collectors to make art part of our everyday.

Adam grew up in the Twin Cities and got his start as an artist by making gig posters for bands coming through popular Twin Cities venues. He drew influence from the bold, graphic style of 80s art and comics. Adam started his professional studio practice in 2003, and since then has become one of Minnesota’s most popular artists.

Approaching projects from a graphic design perspective, Adam connects with art lovers through his collection of colorful art screen prints and creates commissioned pieces in the form of illustrations, murals, paintings and other custom projects.

Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh screen is used to transfer ink onto a substrate (in this case paper), except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the paper momentarily. This causes the ink to wet the paper and be pulled out of the mesh as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. One color is printed at a time, so several screens are used to produce a multicolored image.

There are various terms used for what is essentially the same technique -- serigraphy, serigraph printing and screen printing or silkscreen printing because silk was used in the process. The most popular screen mesh in general use is made of polyester.

Life is busy, but we can never underestimate the power of a handwritten note. All the little social media “Likes” in passing will never compare to receiving a lovely handwritten message from a friend or loved one. When paired with amazing art & perhaps a perfect quote, it helps us to feel grounded, connected, and part of the whole.

We believe that a sustainable environment requires everyone to be conscious about the consumption of non-renewable resources while finding ways to reduce waste. Therefore, we only print on recycled paper! Each printed product we create has the highest post-consumer content available in a sheet that will still produce a high-quality reproduction. By printing with vegetable-based inks our products are less harmful to the environment. All our paper mills and printers are Forest Stewardship Council certified. We respect our environment by recycling, reusing, and reducing our waste at every opportunity.
