Perfect for salad, but also great for anything hot - like a baked potato. Fold inside-out for use, then flip around and fold flat for easy storage.

12" Cherry Fold-Flat Tongs, created by Jonathan Simons of Kempton, Pennsylvania.

Made from solid Pennsylvania Cherry Wood--100% natural, with no dyes, resins or polymers. These utensils are meticulously designed, cut, and then carefully hand-shaped. They are made with his own inventive wood cutting and sanding machines.

The MoonSpoon Original collection is inspired and designed by the natural world around us. It includes stars the moon, leaves, flowers, and more.

The MoonSpoon Gallery collection has more of an architectural look, inspired by balance and line.

MoonSpoon® is designed by Jonathan and Julia Simons.  Jonathan is an artist and furniture maker. About thirty six years ago he started making wood spoons and has designed them ever since. Today Jonathan is known as  'Jonathan Spoons'.

When Jonathan met his wife, Julia, also an artist, they chose to put their design ideas together and make their own unique line of wooden spoons.

When MoonSpoon® began the design was a simple carved “moon” on a spoon.  They wanted to be certain their  unique art concept of cutting wood spoons with a laser could work and it did. As Jonathan and Julia continued experimenting over the years the designs became more inspired and inventive.

The name ‘MoonSpoon® ’ evolved from their first moon design and the correspondent meaning of the moon. For Jonathan the moon represents the reflection of faith. Julia enjoys; while looking at the moon, the consideration of uniting friendship. "We can all see our moon as it rises and sets where-ever we live and as a reminder -  together we can ponder good thoughts and sweet dreams toward each other".

MoonSpoon® means reflecting and sharing - and what could be more fun than sharing a Moon on a Spoon?

"We have designed collections of twelve patterns on about thirty five different utensils. All our Spoons are made from solid Pennsylvania Cherry Wood, 100% natural, with no dyes, resins or polymers. Our spoons and other utensils are meticulously designed, cut and then carefully hand-shaped. We make each utensil with our own inventive wood cutting and sanding machines."

Their most popular MoonSpoon® spoons are the little spoons, spreaders and tongs. Friends love to share them as a simple hostess gift. Together Jonathan and Julia have designed an exceptional product to share with friends and family. One of our favorite pieces is the Tea Nest® - this makes a cozy cup of tea while sharing time with a special friend.

On November 7, 2022, my dear wife Julia died at home; painlessly and peacefully in my arms.

That autumn she was rapidly weakened by cancer. The evening she passed into the spiritual world, there was a miracle; the cherry tree in front of our house bloomed with thousands of flowers; this is so Julia. The cherry blossoms lasted for over six weeks until Christmas Eve when a storm blew them all away.

A week after her passing, while preheating my oven, smoke set off my fire alarm and I threw it outside. The next day I brought it back into my home. Curiously, it went off again while at that very moment, miles away, a large branch fell behind my original spoon shop, breaking the propane gas line. This set my whole shop on fire. Thankfully my daughter was driving to the shop, saw the fire and called 911 immediately.

With the rapid response from our local volunteer fire companies, No one was hurt and we were able to save some of our equipment. Sadly, the shop is destroyed. We are working hard to reconfigure our main shop to accommodate the tools we were able to save.  We will be back to making more spoons very soon. Most of our inventory was in our office so we are still in business, ready to fulfill your wildest utensil dreams. I am so grateful to Shawn and Neil for continuing to help me make my spoons and for Becky’s excellent customer service.

My whole world revolved around Julia.

While I miss her terribly, I am completely confident that I will be with her again. I just have a few more spoons to invent before I get to go home.

Oh, and some scoops.

And boxes.

Maybe some small furniture.

And toys, I’ve always wanted to make toys and Christmas is just around the corner.

Life is amazing, who knows what is to come?”
