Small Totem by Nancy Briggs

This totem is made of various components, including driftwood and carved pieces made of red earthenware clay and lined with a metallic black liner glaze. The rich, matte surfaces of the clay pieces are accented with a white slip and layered underglazes.

Handmade by Nancy Briggs of Des Moines, IA. Briggs is a full-time artist and part-time teacher at the Ankeny Art Center. She has been a potter for over 40 years and through her work, shares the message to "Love the Earth".
