Big Red Lighthouse by David Hinds
A colorful and whimsical painting of the Holland Harbor Light House.
The Holland Harbor Light House, known as Big Red, is located in Ottawa County, Michigan at the entrance of a channel connecting Lake Michigan with Lake Macatawa, and which gives access to the city of Holland, Michigan.
The lighthouse is on the south side of the channel. There are two modern lights marking the ends of the breakwaters that extend out into the Lake Michigan beyond the lighthouse.

The sights and sounds of my childhood come to life in my artwork, whether it be my abstracted farm animals, cherished pets, or my local hero, Abraham Lincoln.
I was fortunate to have grown up 3 miles down the road from famed folk artist George Colin. His use of soft pastels nurtured my love of the simple little sticks of pure pigment. The immediate bold and brilliant colors never cease to amaze me.
