Schold began building instruments about two years ago, focusing on guitars, ukuleles, piccolo ukes, and dulcimers.  

I use genuine Spanish cedar cigar boxes and sustainable woods from a local sawmill. I enjoy all aspects of the process, starting with searching tobacco stores for the most beautiful and interesting boxes. I plan each design to preserve the beauty of the box and to show off the beauty of the woods.  I hand carve the necks from a variety of woods, including walnut, maple, mahogany, red oak, basswood, Osage orange and Kentucky coffee wood.
